“Where is the Balance?” by Diana Ferguson

We are starting a series of blog entries with quilts sent to us by artists who are conveying a socially conscious message through their quilts. If you have a quilt you would like to share, please email us at quiltforchange.org. And thank you to all the artists who are sharing their work!!

Where is the Balance by Diana Ferguson

This quilt was created for a show with the theme, “Town and Country.”  When I heard those words together the thought  that first came to mind was how towns/urban areas encroach and threaten nature.  Man lives from the gifts of this planet yet seems to not consider and/or respect  the natural balance between progress and planet stability.  Hence the quilt, “Where is the Balance?” was created.  I tried to capture nature fighting back as population swells and buildings take over our landscape.  Every day I embrace the beauty of this planet and am thankful for the nurture of it and this piece hopefully reminds others to take a moment and do the same.  – Diana Ferguson
