Artist’s Statement:
The cloth speaks to me. It tells me how it wants to be stitched, marked or embellished. I hand dye the fabric to reflect the colors in nature.  Often times my work is a mix of new cloth and recycled fibers to create rich textures and surface designs. Each piece takes on a life of its own evolving into wonderful quilts or wearable art. The study of cloth is a life long journey with a loving hand taking each stitch.

Manitowoc, Wisconsin resident and fiber artist Colleen Ansbaugh holds an MS degree in Business with a concentration in Textiles and Clothing from the University of Minnesota. Sewing as a child, Colleen began a life-long love of textiles using nature as a source of inspiration. Colleen creates art cloths by hand dying or adding more color with paint, often adding more surface design through silk screening and a stitching. Her supportive husband puts up with spilled beads and an occasional pin on the floor. Their dogs add life to the party by grabbing dropped scraps from the floor and making a run for it.  Click here to visit Colleen’s website, www.colleenansbaugh.com.

It has been wonderful to see more and read about the artists and their quilts. I really appreciate seeing the close-up mark making in Colleen’s With Water pieces. Thanks!
