This project meant a lot to me. I’m a relatively new quilter, and had never made an advocacy quilt before, but reading about the Sister Artists project inspired me.

I was lucky enough to be able to spend 10 days in Tanzania last summer for a project related to my work as a biosafety professional, and to be able to spend a few days on a safari at the end of my trip. I based the tree in my quilt on a giant baobab that I took a photo of in Tarangire National Park.

On my longarm, where I did a lot of the thread painting and quilting.
