Get Involved – Support the Global Fund
You asked how you can assist in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
Here are some simple things you can do:
Write to your government leaders and local representatives to tell them that you support the Global Fund and that you expect them to support the Global Fund as well by sustaining increasing the U.S. government’s annual contribution. In the US, to find your member of Congress, visit: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home/
Contact a journalist at your local newspaper or magazine and encourage them to write stories about AIDS, tuberculosis or malaria and the Global Fund. One place to start looking is here: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/media/
Hold a fundraiser on behalf of the Global Fund Tell your guild about the Global Fund and nominate them to be the recipient for your raffle quilt earnings. See info below on how to make a donation through the United Nations Foundation.
Organize an AIDS awareness day at your school, your place of worship, or your neighborhood. Use this opportunity to let people know how to prevent the spread of this disease – and how to help those who are already living with it. You can contact your local AIDS charity for assistance.
Support a community living with the diseases. Many communities have associations that create handmade goods – purses, badges, etc – as a way of providing jobs and incomes to people unable to find other work by reason of their disease. By purchasing their crafts, you help a community survive and thrive. You can use the crafts as gifts, or even sell them, and donate the profits back to the community.
Support (Product) RED. This project, supported by Bono and DATA (Debt Aid Trade Africa) is a series of global brands which will donate a portion of the profit on each item sold directly to the Global Fund. The founding companies include the GAP, Giorgio Armani, Converse and American Express.

No amount is too small – $1 provide a child with malaria treatment, $5 provides treatment to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS from mother to child, $10 provides a six month treatment to cure tuberculosis. You can contribute through our partner organization the UN Foundation – donating through them ensures that your contribution is tax-deductible (you can contribute either via credit card on our website or by check to the following address):
